Camera = Dead

October 29th, 2006

The digital camera is dead right now, so there will be no pretty pictures of finished knitted objects for awhile.  Meanwhile, I will try to dazzle you with my witty comentary and interesting facts.  I started a Kitty Pi today and I expect to finish it soon.  Plus my Icarus is almost finished, but it’s been a bit of a saga.  First I thought I cut out a repeat, then I found out I didn’t.  Now the yarn is running out and the edging is being improvized.  I think I’m close to figuring out what I’ll do.

Anthony and I have been working on watching Six Feet Under, and we only have four episodes left.  Before I moved to Eugene, I was catching up on season five, but had to move before I could watch the last four episodes.  I’ve waited on watching them so Anthony and I could watch together.  I’m so excited and I can’t wait for the Netflix to get here, which won’t be until Wednesday.  If you’ve seen the series you know that the eighth episode of season five ends with the largest cliff hanger of the whole series.  I’ve definitely paid my dues this time and I’ll be sure to enjoy the last four.

Socktoberfest FO

October 26th, 2006

I’ve finished my socks for Socktoberfest. I was a little worried that I wouldn’t get a pair done in time, but all my bus rides home paid off.

Socktoberfest Socktoberfest

I really like how they turned out. Here are the stats;

  • Pattern: Nothing really, just a purl3, k1 ribbing.
  • Needles: Auddi Turbo Size 1
  • Yarn: My Hand Dyed (Follow the link; Second photo)
  • Dates: Started sometime after the River Rapid socks. Finished October 25, 2006. (I know, these took forever, but I had a pair of Sock Wars Socks in the middle.)

I think these socks fit me better than any other pair. So last night I got to do the really fun part, rummage through the stash to see what I will be making next. Look at what I wound up.

Finished Claire Cardigan

October 22nd, 2006

I just wanted to post a few quick pictures of the Claire Cardigan. I still haven’t finished the pattern (bad knitter, very bad knitter!). I can’t seem to keep any of my goals right now. However I do think I will finish one pair of socks for Socktoberfest. Enough talk, onto the eye candy. (Click to make larger)

If you are interested in the pattern, and want an e-mail for when I finish it, leave a comment or e-mail me. I love it and I think I’ll be wearing it everywhere for the next few weeks. The yarn was hand dyed, but I’ll be including information on how I dyed the yarn in the pattern.

The concert went really well. I’ll probably be pretty quiet the week due to midterms. I only have one exam, tomorrow, in 19th century music, but I also have two large projects due in Research Methods. Things are really starting to pile up around here, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to relax a little bit more after this week.

Ocean Yarn and Icarus Progress

October 19th, 2006

I have been knitting and I finally was able to get some half way decent pictures. Enough to show some progress anyway. Plus, I’ve had a very lazy day today, which has been perfect for the weather. It’s been grey, rainy, dreary; a perfect day for a cuppa and some knit blogging.

Ocean Hand Spun Yarn

This is some yarn that I’ve been slowly spinning for awhile.  I dyed this roving a long time ago, and have been loving spinning it. It varies between fingering and DK weight. I’m thinking of making a Branching Out with this. I have more fiber to spin and I’ve already made close to 400 yards. We’ll see, there’s a lot of things on the “to knit” list.

Icarus Shawl

Here’s the progress on my Icarus. I’m almost done with the second chart, and I have loved making it so far. I did one less repeat on the first chart because I don’t want it as big. I love this yarn. The colors are wonderful and it’s so light, warm and soft. I can’t wait to finish it so I’ve been trying to get a few rows in every day. The rows are getting long, so they’ve been taking awhile.

Red Scarf Project

October 18th, 2006

Many of you have already heard about this, but I thought I’d do a post about it just in case. The red scarves have to be recieved by January 1st and go to young adults with no families that are going to college. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to be able to get one done, currently I’m just trying to handle my own college education.

Can you believe that next week is midterms for me? I seems like I just started. Thus is the whirlwind of the quarter system.

As far as my knitting progress goes, it’s happening. I just haven’t been able to get any photos of anything. I’m not home during the day much and when I am it’s been impossible to get any blogging done. I haven’t even shown you the Claire Cardigan yet and that was done a few weeks ago. I’m going to try to get that photographed and get the pattern up this weekend (cross your fingers).
Due to the lack of knitting progress I’ll post a few blogs that I read regularly and have good FOs. Enjoy!

University Symphony Concert - 10/22/06

October 13th, 2006

One of my goals this year is to post concerts I’m playing in well before they happen so that if you folks in the Eugene area want to come, you can. The University Symphony will be playing next Sunday. Here’s the info;

  • University of Oregon Symphony
  • Beall Hall (on campus)
  • Hindemith - Sinfonische Metamorphosen
  • Beckel - Fantasy after Schubert
  • Barber - String Adagio
  • October 22nd, 2006, 3:00pm
  • Tickets - $7 & $5

If you haven’t heard of the Beckel, that’s because nobody has really played it yet. It was commissioned by the Indianapolis Symphony and I think that was the only time it has been performed. It should be a good concert, and the ticket prices are dirt cheap. For more information go to the School of Music Calender.

Haiku Contest

October 10th, 2006

I won a haiku contest over at January One and I get free yarn. It’s definitely the first yarn contest I’ve ever won. Granted, my name was pulled out of a hat. I didn’t win this out of talent, just luck. I can’t wait to see which skein I get. Thanks January One! Woo hoo!

House Work

Isn’t he sexy!

I’m so proud of him.  Look what he did on Sunday.

Socks Galore

October 9th, 2006

I have been meaning to write this post for so long!  I have recieved serveral wonderful things in the mail recently and I want to make sure and give thanks where due.

First, the bad news.  I’ve been killed.  I thought I could make it to completing and killing two warriors, but I didn’t make it that far.

Sock Wars Killed Me

Yes, I have fallen.  The good thing is I have now been working on my Socktoberfest socks, and they are yummy.  I think they are the best pair of socks I’ve ever made!

The second thing I got in the mail was my Summer of Socks exchange.  (I know it’s not summer anymore, and this is long overdue.  I’ve been a bad blogger.)  I didn’t get just one pair of socks, I got two!

Crochet Socks

This is a pair of crochet socks that were an extra bonus.

Summer of Socks Exchange

Does the pattern look familiar?  What can I say, great minds think alike.  Thank you Maggii.

In other knitting news, the Claire Cardigan is finished, and the pattern should be up soon.  I will also have another pattern on Magknits in November!  Of course I can’t say anything yet, but I’m so excited.

Big Day
