Sock Wars - First Kill
I’ve been crazy busy, hence the lack of posting, but that hasn’t stopped me from knitting. I’ve made my first kill.

Hopefully I’ll get her socks in the mail soon. ![]()

I recieved three e-mails about finished Saturday Market Bags in the last two days. I’m so glad that so many people are enjoying the pattern. If you haven’t seen the beautiful bags. Go check them out.
It’s time for me to head back to class. This means much busier days, less knitting, more violining, and getting back into a routine. Although, the routine is different everyday, depending on the day of the week. I’m not sure you can really call that routine.
Even though I go back much later than most of my friends, I have to say that “Back to School” crept up on me. I didn’t really realize that this was my last week of summer until I only had a few days left. The problem, I don’t feel like a student anymore. I think that’s what moving into a house and renovating does to you. I have an academically intense year ahead of me, but I think I’m ready to hit it head on. Wish me luck.
I saw this article on Irie’s blog. Offering wellness programs through the work place makes a lot of sense. The whole idea that it’s possible to cut down insurance costs by having healthy employies means smart buisness. Check it out and maybe suggest it to you boss next time you get a chance.
I’m sure all you knitter types have seen this music video. I figured I would post it here just in case you hadn’t. It’s worth checking out. Especially because you know they had to unwind all that knitting to film it.
I’m such a joiner. I can’t seem to stop joining sock KALs. I am always making socks though, so it works out okay. Click on the button if you want to join too.
In honor of talk like a pirate day, I be sharin’ me treasure that I recently pillaged for. Click on yer photo to see a larger view. (Okay I really suck at talking like a pirate, so I’m giving up now.)

Anthony picked out this sock yarn all on his own. He actually digged through the bin of sock yarn to find the one that he liked best. As a matter of fact, he bought it to. It was so cute.
This here sock yarn is my first Lorna’s Laces Shepard Sock. If you have any advice with this yarn, I will gladly take it. I know it can pool like mad, but I’m not sure if I think that’s a bad thing.
This is the yarn for my Coral Crossing sweater from the IK Fall ‘06. I can’t wait to start it. (Squirm, squirm, squirm)
This is some sock yarn to play with. I’m really enjoying using the solid colors. Obviously I was on a blue kick when I did my Knitpicks order. The blue, red and green on the right are for argyle socks.
Some sock yarn for experimentation! I need to do some dyeing before the weather is rainy all the time. (Obviously I’m on a sock freenzy!)
This is some Merino Spinning fiber. (You didn’t think I would do stash enhancement without getting some fiber did you?) I haven’t spun with Merino yet, but I’m really excited about trying some out. I got two ounces of each color, and they will be spun together in some way. Not sure how yet.
I actually have a few more things to show you (can you say shopping spree?) I think I’ll have enough to knit for a crazy long time. Actually I know I do. Okay, back to the knitting/spinning.
Sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been in Colorado Springs this weekend. I’ll be back in Eugene tomorrow, and will hopefully be able to post some more finished objects soon. Plus Sock Wars is coming up! I’ve been training and all I have to say is I’m going to make sure to last at least one round. Sock Knitters Beware!
I have another pair of finished socks. I think this may be the last pair I can get in for Summer of Socks. It’s the pair I’ve sent to my sock partner. I don’t think she’s gotten them yet, because I haven’t heard from her, but I’m going to post about them anyway.

This pattern was great! I really like the heel on this one. It alternates where you slip the stitiches on the knit rows so that you get little diamond shapes. You can see the detail in the first photo. This pattern went really quickly and was great to knit up. I’ll be checking out more of Sock Bug’s patterns in the future.
Sam and Taylor have had their baby! Arthur Joseph Rutledge is one of the most beautiful perfect babies I have ever seen. Congratulations!
